Marina Rosenfeld, born in 1968 in New York City, is an American composer, sound artist, and visual artist. She graduated from Harvard University in 1991 and received her MFA from the California Institute of the Arts in 1994. Her first major work was Sheer Frost Orchestra (1993), featuring 17 women manipulating nail polish bottles on guitars. Rosenfeld's discography includes albums such as theforestthegardenthesea (1999) and Joy of Fear (2006). Her work was presented by institutions including the Park Avenue Armory, Museum of Modern Art, and documenta 14. She performed widely as an improvising turntablist and served as co-chair of Music/Sound at Bard College from 2007 to 2020. Notable works include Teenage Lontano (2008) and Cannons (2010).
