Mazen Kerbaj, born in 1975 in Beirut, Lebanon, is an experimental musician, trumpet player, and music producer. He began his career as a comic artist and painter, publishing his first book, Journal 1999, in 2000. In 2004, he co-founded the Al Maslakh Ensemble and later established Al Maslakh Records, the first label for improvisational music in Lebanon. Kerbaj's debut album as a solo artist was Brt Vrt Zrt Krt, released in 2005. He has since collaborated with numerous international artists such as Mats Gustafsson, Joe McPhee, and John Butcher. His discography includes notable works like East of Where? (2017), Walls Will Fall: The 49 Trumpets of Jericho (2018), and Corona Diaries (2020). Kerbaj has performed extensively across the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.
