Winston Lee Moore, known professionally as Slim Willet, was an American country musician, songwriter, and disc jockey born on December 1, 1919, in Dublin, Texas. Willet graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1949 with a journalism degree and established a career as a radio host at KRBC in Abilene, where he hosted the KRBC Big State Jamboree. In 1950, he formed the Hired Hands and recorded the single “Tool Pusher From Snyder” for Star Talent Records. Willet joined 4 Star Records in 1952 and released the song “Don’t Let the Stars Get in Your Eyes”, which achieved significant commercial success. His professional activity included performances on the Big D Jamboree and Louisiana Hayride. In 1954, he founded Winston Records, subsequently releasing the albums Slim Willet (1959) and Texas Oil Patch Songs (1962). Willet died of a heart attack on July 1, 1966. In 1994, he was inducted into the Country Music DJ Hall of Fame.
