Alaitz eta Maider was a Basque Trikitixa band formed in 1989, consisting of Alaitz Telletxea and Maider Zabalegi from Oiartzun, Spain. The duo initially performed at local competitions and concerts before gaining wider recognition. Their breakthrough came with the release of their self-titled debut album Alaitz eta Maider in 1997, which sold over 25,000 copies. Supported by folklorist Joseba Tapia, they released two more albums: Inshala (1999) and Auskalo (2002). The band toured extensively through South America and Japan. Alaitz played the Trikitixa, a Basque diatonic accordion, while Maider performed on the tambourine, blending traditional folk with pop elements. Their unique sound, known as Triki-Pop, combined Celtic folk, rock, and jazz. The group disbanded in 2004.
