The Central Band of the Royal British Legion is a prestigious British musical group, founded in 1944 and attached to the Royal British Legion - the national charity dedicated to veterans and the memory of fallen soldiers. Founded in the context of the Second World War, the London-based band employs classically trained musicians and concentrates its repertoire on military marches and anthems, but is not limited to them, as it also tackles arrangements of classical pieces or opera arias such as "Nessun dorma", music from jazz, musical comedy or film scores and other standards such as "Amazing Grace". In 2007, the orchestra even performed a cover of "Gravity's Rainbow", by the rock band Klaxons. The band's extensive discography includes Thanks for the Memories (1994), Stage Centre (1996), 'S Wonderful (2002), Music for Remembrance (2005), Rule Britannia! (2010), as well as several compilations. The band also records albums specially designed for commemorations, such as D-Day: The 50th Anniversary (2010) and Forever: The Official Album of the World War 1 Commemorations (2014).
