BaBe, a Japanese pop duo composed of Tomoko Kondō and Yukari Nikaidō, debuted in 1987. The group's breakthrough came with their cover of Michael Fortunati's "Give Me Up". This version became immensely popular and was covered by numerous artists. BaBe released their debut album Bravo! in June 1987, which included several successful singles such as "Hold Me", "I Don’t Know!" and "Somebody Loves You~明日の恋人~" followed by a compilation of singles called Nice! in December that year. Their third album Good! emerged in January 1988, followed by Fight!, in June, as well as the singles "TONIGHT!", "Get a Chance!", and "WAKE UP!". In March 1989, BaBe released the single "She has a dream", which further cemented their status as one of Japan's leading pop acts. Their third album Brand‐new was released April 21st, 1989 and marked a significant evolution in their sound. However, their career was cut short when Yukari Nikaidō announced her pregnancy and subsequent marriage, leading to the group's disbandment. Their final album, CONTRAST, was released in February 1990. Additional releases included compilations like The Best of BaBe (1990), BaBe SINGLES コンプリート (2007).
