Lijay, originally from Martinique and Guadeloupe, is a versatile artist and composer in the world of West Indian music. Having discovered his passion for writing music late in life, and without the financial means to invest in this field, he taught himself the basics of writing, recording, mixing and singing. Lijay is mainly known for his shatta dancehall tracks, and has gained notoriety thanks to titles such as"Gaza Gyal Luv" and"Ova Deh". He multiplied his collaborations with tracks like"Cités d'or shatta" with Le Jèm'ss and Mikado, or the Bouyon remix of his track"Aie" with So Wood, both of which racked up millions of streams. In 2022, Kalash and Maureen's"Laptop " (2022), the first gold record in France written entirely in Creole, put his producer's hat in the spotlight. In 2023, he released his EP " L'amour c'est pour les nuls" (Love is for Dummies ), followed by its reissue, which blends shatta, dancehall and zouk influences.
