Clor was a London‑based electronic group formed in 2003 by Barry Dobbin and Luke Smith, who met while hosting a DJ night at Soho’s Bad Bunny club. The duo recruited three additional musicians and began recording in Smith’s flat, producing the demo Welcome Music Lovers in 2004, which later became a self‑released EP. After only six live shows the pair secured a contract with Parlophone, and on 14 June 2004 the single "Welcome Music Lovers" was issued. The band’s self‑titled debut album Clor was released on 25 July 2005, peaking at number 77 on the UK Albums Chart; the single "Love + Pain" entered the UK Singles Chart at number 48 on 14 April 2005, while "Outlines" reached number 43 on 30 May 2005. A further single, "Good Stuff", charted at number 50 on 19 September 2005. Clor’s music was later highlighted by NME critic Krissi Murison as one of the “100 greatest albums you have never heard” in 2010. The group disbanded in May 2006, and both members pursued separate projects: Smith produced albums for Shitdisco, Foals, and Fryars, while Dobbin formed Barringtone. Clor’s brief but impactful career remains documented in contemporary electronic music archives.
