The Stills, a Canadian rock group from Montreal, Quebec, formed in 2000 with lead vocalist and guitarist Tim Fletcher, guitarist Gregory Paquet, bassist Olivier Corbeil, and drummer Dave Hamelin, who had known each other since age twelve. Their first release, the EP Rememberese on 17 June 2003, established their presence, followed by the debut album Logic Will Break Your Heart on 21 October 2003, which included singles such as "Lola Stars and Stripes", "Changes Are No Good", and "Still in Love Song" and earned critical praise for its post-punk sound. In 2005 Gregory Paquet departed, and Dave Hamelin switched to guitar and shared vocal duties; keyboardist Liam O'Neil joined full-time. The second album, Without Feathers, released 9 May 2006, shifted toward an Americana style and featured guests like Sam Roberts and Emily Haines, while the band supported Kings of Leon on UK tours. Signing with Arts & Crafts, they released Oceans Will Rise on 19 August 2008, a work noted for blending their early 1980s aesthetic with a more earthy tone; the album earned the Stills two Juno Awards on 28 March 2009 for Best New Group and Best Alternative Album. After a brief reunion of original members in 2010, the Stills disbanded on 15 April 2011, concluding an eleven-year career marked by charting releases, international tours, and industry recognition.
