Models, an Australian rock band, were formed in Melbourne, Victoria in August 1978. The initial lineup included Sean Kelly on vocals and lead guitar, Andrew Duffield on keyboards, Mark Ferrie on bass guitar, and Janis Freidenfelds on drums and percussion. The band's early years saw them performing extensively both locally and interstate, supporting acts such as the Ramones and Midnight Oil. Their first release was a shared single "Early Morning Brain (It's Not Quite the Same as Sobriety)" in October 1979. In November 1980, they released their debut album Alphabravocharliedeltaechofoxtrotgolf, which peaked at number 43 on the Australian Kent Music Report Albums Chart. The band signed with Mushroom Records and later with A&M Records for international distribution. Their breakthrough came in July 1985 with "Out of Mind, Out of Sight", which reached Number 1 on the Australian singles charts and peaked at number 37 on the Billboard Hot 100. The related album Out of Mind, Out of Sight reached number 3 on the Australian albums chart and appeared on the Billboard 200. The band went into hiatus in 1988 but reformed for reunion concerts in 2000, 2006, and 2008, beginning regular performances again from 2010 onwards. On October 27, 2010, the band was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame by Wendy Matthews. Other albums include Local and/or General (1981), The Pleasure of Your Company (1983) and Models' Media (1986). Members James Freud, Janis Freidenfelds, Mark Hough and saxophonist James Valentine died in 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2026, respectively.
