Richard Clapton, born on May 18, 1948, in Sydney, Australia, is a singer-songwriter and producer. He began his musical journey in the mid-1960s, forming bands like Darktown Strutters and Sopwith Camel. In 1972, Richard Clapton returned to Australia and signed with Infinity Records, releasing his debut single "Last Train to Marseilles" that year. His first album, Prussian Blue, was released in November 1973. Clapton's breakthrough came with the release of "Girls on the Avenue" in 1975, which reached Number 20 on the Kent Music Report Singles Chart. He continued to achieve chart success with albums like Goodbye Tiger (1977) and Hearts on the Nightline (1979), both of which also reached Number 20. Clapton's highest-charting album, Music Is Love, peaked at number three on the ARIA Chart in April 2021. He was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame on October 12, 1999.
