Oliver Mandić, born Оливер Мандић on July 13, 1953, in Titovo Užice, Serbia (then FPR Yugoslavia), is a Serbian and former Yugoslav rock musician, composer, and producer. He first started playing the accordion before taking up the piano. He moved to Belgrade where he pursued a career as a pianist, getting accepted at the Kornelije Stanković musical high school, but left in 1969 to branch out into pop music. During the early 1970s, he performed in various Belgrade bands as the keyboardist and formed the jazz-rock band Oliver, which had one live appearance on January 2, 1972. His solo career started in 1978 with the single "Ljuljaj me nežno" ("Rock Me Gently"), which he originally composed for the singer Slađana Milošević but was persuaded to record himself. In 1981, he released his debut album Probaj me (Try Me), which brought hits like "Nije za nju" ("Not for Her") and "Samo nebo zna (Poludeću)" ("Sky Only Knows (I'll Go Crazy)").
