Hailing from Wallasey in the Wirral district of England, where they formed in 2021, The Dream Machine are a British neo-psychedelic band blending vintage sounds, modern indie rock songwriting and a strong grounding in Merseyside coastal culture. Comprising Zak McDonnell (vocals, guitar), Matt Gouldson (guitar, keyboards), Jack Inchboard (bass), Isaac Salisbury (drums) and more recently Harrison Mardsen (keyboards), the quintet is known for its blend of hypnotic rhythms, melodic songwriting and eclectic retro-modern influences. They quickly made a name for themselves with three conceptual EPs released between 2021 and 2022, Vol. 1: Sacraments, Vol. 2: On the Water and Vol. 3: Pooch Slingers' Wild Round-Up! followed by their debut album, Thank God! It's The Dream Machine, hand-recorded on an 8-track tape recorder and released in April 2023 on local label Run On Records, like its successor, Small Time Monsters, released in July 2024. Appearing at the Kendal Calling and The Great Escape festivals and opening for bands such as The Coral and The Lathums, The Dream Machine expanded their sound palette for the recording of their third album, Fort Perch Rock, released in February 2026.
