Melih Kibar, born on September 6, 1951 in Istanbul, Turkey, was a Turkish composer. He began his musical journey at the age of eight by enrolling at the Conservatory of Istanbul Municipality and won his first prize as a composer at the Milliyet High School Music Contest in 1970. Kibar's early career saw him working with Timur Selçuk until 1975, during which time he composed "Çoban Yıldızı", a jingle for the Eurovision Song Contest national selection. Throughout his career, Kibar composed 273 tunes, 9 musicals, and 32 film musicals, often collaborating with lyricist Çiğdem Talu. In 1976, he received the Golden Orange prize for the soundtrack of the film Hababam Sınıfı. His compositions "Halley" (1986) and "Sev!" (1995) represented Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest. Kibar passed away on April 7, 2005, due to skin cancer.
