June Mary Bronhill (born on June 26, 1929, in Broken Hill, New South Wales) was an Australian coloratura soprano who rose to prominence in London’s operetta and musical theatre. After winning the Sun Aria competition in 1949–50, she studied in London and debuted with Sadler’s Wells Opera as Eurydice in Orpheus in the Underworld, later starring as Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow more than 200 times. Her recordings include the 1958 EP The Merry Widow – Sadler’s Wells Theatre Production, the 1960 album Presents Orpheus In The Underworld, and the 1976 release June Bronhill At The Sydney Opera House. She returned to Australia in 1976, performed in operas and musical roles, was appointed an OBE that year, released "The Lord’s Prayer" in 1979, and retired in 1993. June Bronhill died on January 24 2005 in Sydney.
