Kate Royal, born in 1979 in London, is an English opera singer known for her lyrical soprano voice. She studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and later at the National Opera Studio, graduating in summer 2004. Her breakthrough came that same year when she replaced the lead as Pamina in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Magic Flute at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera. This performance caught the attention of conductor Simon Rattle, leading to further collaborations and roles. Royal released her debut album Kate Royal (2007), followed by The Songs of Robert Schumann Vol. 10 (2007). She signed with EMI Classics in 2006, and her albums include Midsummer Night (2007) and A Lesson in Love (2010). She won the Kathleen Ferrier Award in 2004 and the John Christie Award in 2004.
