Justo después de la disolución de los Zombies, una popular banda de los años 60, Rod Argent, el cantante-organista, fundó el grupo del mismo nombre, Argent. Las melodías pegadizas y los complejos arreglos de Rod y el guitarrista Russ Ballard les valieron el reconocimiento internacional. Tras una mala racha, abandonaron el grupo en 1976. Rod reapareció ocasionalmente en 1978 con el álbum Moving Home (con Phil Collins y Gary Moore).
