David Orlowsky is a German clarinetist born on August 26, 1981, in Tübingen. At age 16, he established the David Orlowsky Trio alongside Jens-Uwe Popp and Florian Dohrmann. He completed classical clarinet studies at the Folkwang Universität der Künste between 2002 and 2007, followed by studies at the Manhattan School of Music in 2008 with Charles Neidich and Ayako Oshima. Orlowsky collaborated with musicians including Igor Levit, Martha Argerich, and Dominique Horwitz. His discography included the studio recordings Noema (2007), Chronos (2011), and Symphonic Klezmer (2015). He recorded the work The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind by Osvaldo Golijov in 2011. He received the Echo Klassik award in 2008, 2011, and 2015. In 2022, he released the album Alter Ego with lutenist David Bergmüller, followed by Petrichor in 2024. The David Orlowsky Trio became inactive in 2019.
