Christine Tobin, born January 7, 1963, in Dublin, Ireland, is a vocalist and composer known for her work in the London jazz scene. She began singing in her early 20s after discovering jazz through Joni Mitchell's Mingus album. In 1987, Tobin moved to London and studied at the Guildhall School of Music. She formed several bands, including one with pianist Simon Purcell, double bassist Steve Watts, and drummer Phil Allen. Her notable albums include Yell of the Gazelle (1996), Christine Tobin's Romance And Revolution (2004), and Secret Life of a Girl (2008). In 2010, she released the duet album Tapestry Unravelled. Her 2012 album Sailing to Byzantium, featuring settings of poems by W.B. Yeats, won a BASCA British Composer Award.
