Psy・S was a Japanese electronic music and electro pop band formed in 1983. The group consisted of Masaya Matsuura, who served as the composer and arranger, and Chaka, the vocalist and lyricist. Matsuura, born on June 16, 1961, in Osaka, began his career with Psy・S after meeting Chaka (Mami Yasunori), born July 16, 1960, also from Osaka. The band's debut album, Different View, was released in May 1985 under Sony Music, marking their major breakthrough. Their first single, "Teenage", accompanied the album and featured a music video. Psy・S continued to release albums throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, including Pic-Nic (1986), Collection (1987), and Mint-Electric (1987). Notable songs from this period include "Angel Night ~天使のいる場所~" (April 1988) and "Parachute Limit" (October 1988). The band's music was featured in various TV shows, anime, and movies, notably the soundtrack for the OVA adaptation of To-Y by Atsushi Kamijo. Psy・S disbanded in June 1996, with Matsuura announcing the breakup in PC Music magazine. Their final album, Two Bridges, was released in August 1996. Post-disbandment, Masaya Matsuura transitioned into video game music production, creating titles like PaRappa the Rapper and UmJammer Lammy. Chaka pursued a solo career, releasing albums such as Delicious Hip (1997) and collaborating with notable jazz artists. In 2002, a compilation of Psy・S' best singles, Golden Best (Singles+), was released, followed by a live DVD in 2005 featuring footage from their 1988–1989 Non-Fiction Tour.
