Born in Nancy in 1995, Etienne Manchon is a pianist who lives and works between Toulouse and Paris. Passionate about jazz and contemporary music since his teens, he has given over 500 concerts at the age of 27, as a leader and sideman in a variety of styles. Influenced by Pink Floyd, Jozef Dumoulin, and the New York scene (Ben Wendel, Mark Guiliana, Taylor Eigsti), Manchon explores rhythm and melody, with particular attention to sound treatment. Since 2016, he has been performing as a piano-bass-drums trio, championing compositions that are sometimes intimate, sometimes grandiloquent, always with a sense of humor.
His first trio album, Elastic Borders (2019), was followed by Streets (2022), which earned him a place among the 10 musicians to watch in 2023 by Jazz Magazine and Jazz News . In September 2023, he will release an album with his explosive octet, La Pieuvre Irréfutable. He has also created the duo Congé Spatial with Pierre Lapprand, recording their first album in October 2022.
Manchon collaborates with artists such as Yves Rousseau, Jean-Marc Padovani, and Alban Darche, and acts as artistic director for Amandine Bontemps and Bøl. He also accompanies baroque and classical music recitals. Passionate about writing and arranging, he has worked for the big band L'Autre Big Band and various one-off projects.
