Pandit Uday Bhawalkar, born on February 5, 1966 from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, India, is a classical vocalist specializing in the dhrupad genre. Based in Pune, he regularly performed on National TV and radio. He began his musical training under his elder sister and later received a scholarship at the Dhrupad Kendra, Bhopal. At age 15, he started learning from Zia Fariduddin Dagar and subsequently from Zia Mohiuddin Dagar. In 1987, Pandit Uday Bhawalkar was awarded a gold medal by Nasir Aminuddin Dagar. He has performed extensively in India and abroad, contributing to soundtracks of films such as Cloud Door and Mr & Mrs Iyer. In 1992, he founded the Veena Foundation to promote dhrupad music. He notably performed at the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto in 2018. His awards include the Rashtreeya Kumar Gandharva Samman (2001) and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (2021).
