Bodil Aileen Niska, born on August 21, 1954 in Vadsø, Norway, is a jazz musician. She received early musical training from her father Aksel Niska and later studied under saxophonist Kjell Bartholdsen. Between 1979 and 1989, she led the Jazzclub Montenegro and was involved with the Varanger Festival as both an organizer and performer. In 1990, she moved to the sound where she participated in the trio Girl Talk in 1992 with Elizabeth Walker and Siri Gellein (later replaced by bassist Tine Asmunden). The trio released their album Talkin’ Jazz in 1996. Niska's debut album under her own name, First Song, was released in 2000. She formed the Bodil Niska Quartet for the Oslo Jazz Festival in 2005 and has performed at numerous jazz festivals across Norway and internationally, notably Japan in 2003. Her subsequent albums include Blue (2004) and Night Time (2008).
