Einar “Pastor'n” Iversen (1930–2019) was a Norwegian jazz pianist and composer born in Mandal. Iversen studied classical piano under Inge Rolf Ringnes, Artur Schnabel, and Finn Mortensen before joining the Oslo jazz scene in 1949. He became a professional musician in 1952 and debuted on a Rowland Greenberg recording in 1953. Iversen performed with Dizzy Gillespie at Birdland and collaborated with musicians including Anthony Ortega, Dexter Gordon, Coleman Hawkins, and Johnny Griffin. His discography includes the albums Me and My Piano (1967), The Sting (1974), Jazz på norsk (1990), and Seaview (2001). Iversen received the Buddyprisen in 1958, the Gammleng-prisen in 1997, and was appointed Knight of First Class of the Order of St. Olav. He died in Oslo on April 3, 2019.
