Anita Meyer is a Dutch singer born as Annita Meijer on 29 October 1954 in Rotterdam. She began her musical career performing with her brother before achieving a professional breakthrough with the solo single “The Alternative Way” (1976), which reached Number 1 on the Dutch charts. That same year, she released her debut studio album, In The Meantime I Will Sing (1976), and the singles “You Can Do It” (1976) and “Just a Disillusion” (1976). She achieved significant success with the single “Why Tell Me Why” (1981), which topped the national charts and became the best-selling record in the Netherlands for 1981. Her recording career includes the studio albums Shades of Desire (1981) and Past, Present and Future (1982). Meyer collaborated with Lee Towers on the duet “Run to Me” (1986) and recorded the live album The Ahoy Concert (1988). She followed these with the album Close to You (1989) and the studio recording Tears Go By (2009).
