Dennie Christian was born on May 22, 1956 in Bensberg. He is a German pop singer and presenter who is considered one of the most influential performers of German-language pop music of the 1970s and 1980s. He recorded his first record Jede große Liebe hat ein Happy-End at the age of 17, but it was not a success. In 1975, he achieved his breakthrough with "Rosamunde", which reached number 1 in the ZDF Hit Parade in January and number 3 in the German singles charts; the song became one of the most popular pop hits of the time. His debut album Rosamunde is released in 1975; further singles such as "Marie-Luise" (1975) and "Wo warst du heut nacht" (1976) follow. In the 1980s, he worked primarily as a presenter, including radio and TV productions and at the annual "Schlagerfestival von Kerkrade" in the Netherlands. In the 1990s, Christian devoted himself more to music again and released albums such as Du hast mir total den Kopf verdreht (1994) and Warum nicht mit mir (1996) as well as other compilations and studio recordings up until the 2010s; examples include Dennie Christian presenteert Schlagerfestival Deel 1 (2015) and Dennie Christian zingt de grootste Duitse Schlagers aller tijden Deel 2 (2016). His successful songs include the classic "Rosamunde" as well as "Habe ich dich heute Nacht verloren" (1977) and "Autokino samstags um halb zehn" (1978). In the 2020s, he continued to release new music, such as the single "Kom drink een bier met mij" (2025). Dennie Christian also sings partly in Dutch and maintains a large fan base in the Netherlands to this day.
