A Thorn For Every Heart, an American post-hardcore band from Chino Hills, California, was formed in early 2003 by Joel Ryan Holt and Aaron Peck. The original lineup also included Kelvin Cruz on lead vocals, Jeff Harber on guitar and keys, Justin Powell on bass, and Joy Welling on violin. They independently released their debut EP, Silence Is Golden, in late 2003, which gained them internet exposure and an underground following. In support of the EP, the band embarked on its first nationwide tour in 2004. Their full-length album, Things Aren't So Beautiful Now, was released through Kickball Records in 2004. The band toured extensively with notable acts such as Fall Out Boy and Jimmy Eat World. Joy Welling passed away in March 2018 from injuries sustained while rock climbing.
