Pery Ribeiro, born Peri Oliveira Martins on October 27, 1937, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was a singer known for his contributions to bossa nova. His musical career began in 1959 when he adopted the stage name Pery Ribeiro and released his first single. In 1962, Ribeiro released his debut album, Pery Ribeiro e Seu Mundo de Canções Românticas, featuring guitar work by Luiz Bonfá. He was one of the first to record "Garota de Ipanema" that same year. Throughout his career, Ribeiro collaborated with notable artists and released several albums, including Gemini Cinco Anos Depois in 1972 and Prá Tanto Viver in 1986. In 2012, Rolling Stone Brasil ranked Pery Ribeiro among the top 100 Brazilian singers of all time. Pery Ribeiro passed away on February 24, 2012, from a heart attack in Rio de Janeiro.
