Oliver Sauerland, known professionally as Phillie MC, was born on August 5, 1974, in Stadtoldendorf, Germany. He grew up in Bodenwerder and developed a passion for music at an early age. His breakthrough came with the release of "Unkraut", which spent nine weeks in the German charts in 2001. This single was part of his debut album Schöne neue Welt, released on November 27, 2006, which critically addressed neonazism in Germany. Following this success, Sauerland released several other projects, including the EP Verrecke and the album Unkraut. In 2013, he began performing under the pseudonym "Jonny Bockmist" and joined the punk band Abstürzende Brieftauben until 2017. During this period, he also founded Band ohne Anspruch in Hannover-Linden, releasing multiple albums, including 2018 and Bitte machen sie sich frei. Sauerland's work extended beyond his own projects; he contributed to the single "Keine Angst" for the social media platform Hooligans gegen Satzbau, featuring notable artists like Farin Urlaub and Bela B from Die Ärzte.
