Dan Pickett (born James Founty; 1907–1967) was an American country blues and Piedmont blues singer, guitarist, and songwriter from Pike County, Alabama. In 1949, Pickett traveled to Philadelphia, where he recorded a series of tracks for Gotham Records. Ten of these songs were released that same year as five 78-rpm singles. His recordings primarily consisted of reworkings of blues standards, including Leroy Carr’s “How Long”, Buddy Moss’s “Ride to a Funeral in a V-8”, and Blind Boy Fuller’s “Lemon Man”. Pickett utilized a distinctive rhythmic style and unique phrasing in his performances. His recorded output remained limited to this single session. In 1990, his work was compiled into the album Country Blues. A more complete collection of 18 recovered recordings was released in 2006. Pickett died in Boaz, Alabama, on August 16, 1967.
