Hackneyed, a German death metal band from Abtsgmünd, Baden-Württemberg, was formed in 2006 by Philipp Mazal and Tim Cox. The group initially included guitarist Lydia and bassist Felix Papp, but underwent several lineup changes before stabilizing with Devin Cox as the second guitarist. Hackneyed's breakthrough came when they caught the attention of Achim Ostertag from Nuclear Blast Records, leading to the release of their debut album Death Prevails in 2008. The band went on to release three more albums, including Burn After Reaping (2009), Carnival Cadavre (2011), and Inhabitants Of Carcosa (2015). Throughout their career, Hackneyed performed at notable festivals such as the Summer Breeze Festival, the With Full Force Festival, Wacken Open Air, and Out and Loud. They also toured with bands like Arch Enemy and Necrotted. Hackneyed officially disbanded after a farewell concert on October 1, 2016, in Aalen.
