Purling Hiss is an American rock music project from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, formed in 2009. The project was established by multi-instrumentalist Mike Polizze and named for the heavy use of distortion and white noise. Polizze released the debut studio recording Purling Hiss (2009), followed by Hissteria (2010) and Public Service Announcement (2010). After touring with Kurt Vile and the Violators, Polizze formed a live ensemble with Ben Leaphart and Kiel Everett. Their discography includes the tracks “My Hell” (2011) and “Out Tonight” (2018). Their recording career includes the studio recordings Water on Mars (2013), Weirdon (2014), and High Bias (2016). Their discography includes the studio recording Drag On Girard (2023).
