Kidneythieves is an American industrial rock ensemble from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1997. The group was established by the vocalist Free Dominguez and the guitarist and engineer Bruce Somers. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style blending industrial rock, alternative metal, and trip-hop influences. Their recording career began with the debut track “S+M (A Love Song)” (1998) and the studio recording Trickster (1998). After releasing the extended play Phi in the Sky (2001) and the studio recording Zerøspace (2002), the ensemble became inactive in 2004. Dominguez and Somers resumed activity in 2007 and released the studio recording Trypt0fanatic (2010). They achieved professional recognition for the track “Before I'm Dead” (2002), which was featured in the film Queen of the Damned (2002). Their recording career includes the extended play The Invisible Plan (2011) and the studio recording The Mend (2016). They achieved professional recognition for providing music and voice acting for the video game Deus Ex: Invisible War (2003) and collaborating on the track “God in Fire” (2011) for the game Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy (2011).
