Jan Wiktor Kiepura, born on May 16, 1902, in Sosnowiec, Russian Empire, was a Polish opera singer and actor. He began his vocal training with Tadeusz Leliwa in 1922 and made his stage debut as Faust in Charles Gounod's opera of the same name in 1924. Kiepura gained significant recognition when he replaced another tenor for a performance of Faust at the Warsaw Opera in 1925, earning standing ovations. He performed at prestigious venues such as the Vienna State Opera and the Paris Opera. Notable songs recorded during his career included "Heute Nacht oder nie" and "Ninon". Post-World War II, they performed extensively in operettas like Die lustige Witwe across Europe and North America. Kiepura died on August 15, 1966, in Harrison, New York.
