Llama Farmers were formed in Greenwich, England, in 1997 by vocalist and guitarist Bernie Simpson, guitarist William Briggs, bassist Jennie Simpson and drummer Brooke Rogers. The group first appeared on the independent scene with singles released through Fierce Panda, establishing a foothold in the Britpop‑grunge milieu. Their debut album, Dead Letter Chorus, was issued in 1999 on Beggars Banquet Records and featured the singles "Get The Keys And Go", "Jessica", and "Always Echoes", while the follow‑up El Toppo arrived in 2001, containing "Snow White" and "Same Song". During this period Llama Farmers toured the NME Premier Tour, opened for Green Day and Foo Fighters, and performed at the 1998 Reading Festival. The band’s releases charted modestly within the UK Indie charts, and they received critical attention for their blend of melodic rock and raw energy. After a brief hiatus in the early 2000s, Llama Farmers disbanded, and no further recordings were issued. Their catalog remains a concise representation of late‑1990s British rock, and the group is occasionally cited in retrospective discussions of the era’s alternative scene.
