Manfred Bründl, born September 18, 1959, in Regensburg, Germany, is a jazz bassist and composer. He studied classical and jazz music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz from 1980. Bründl's early career included membership in Heinz Sauer's quartet from 1983 to 1985. In 1987, he led his own group, "Brüma, Brüma," and later Basslab, releasing the album Live in 1992. Bründl's compositions and performances have earned him significant recognition, including the Jazz Prize of the City of Frankfurt in 1995 and the SWR-Jazz Prize in 2012. His albums such as Respect (2006) and Crosshatched (2008) received critical acclaim. He taught at the University of Mainz from 1989 to 1996 and began teaching bass at the University of Music in Weimar in 1996.
