Gabriele Hasler, born on April 18, 1957 in Wiesbaden, Germany, is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. She began her musical career as a singer in various bands across different genres from 1977 onwards. After studying at the Berklee College of Music between 1981 and 1983, Hasler focused on jazz and improvisational music. In 1986, she released God is a She and became the first woman to receive the SWF Jazz Prize. She also founded her own label, Foolish Music, in 1986 and has released multiple albums under this imprint. Throughout her career, Hasler has collaborated with numerous artists and ensembles, including the big bands of SDR, NDR, WDR, and the Danish Radio. Notable projects include collaborations with the poet Oskar Pastior and saxophonist Roger Hanschel, as well as performances at various festivals and tours organized by the Goethe-Institut.
