Melanie Wilhelm, known professionally as Melbeatz, was born on 18 July 1977 in West Berlin and emerged as a German hip-hop producer and composer. Early exposure to hip-hop culture paved the way for her first widely released effort, the single “OK!” in 2004, which introduced her to the national scene. That same year she followed up with the studio album Rapper’s Delight, establishing her presence within the German rap market and securing airplay on several urban music stations. Throughout the mid-2000s Melbeatz collaborated extensively with German hip-hop artists and producers, building a dedicated reputation within the scene. Although no further studio albums were released after Rapper’s Delight, her single “OK!” reached the German Singles Chart in 2004, reflecting her impact on the genre. Melbeatz continued contributing to the rap community as a producer, creating tracks for emerging artists. Her work is noted for its smooth, melodic production style, a characteristic associated with her contributions to German hip-hop.
