The Deadly Snakes were a Canadian indie rock band formed in Toronto in 1996. Initially created for a friend's birthday party, they released their debut album Love Undone in 1999 on Sympathy for the Record Industry. The band included André Ethier, Matthew Carlson, Chad Ross, Jeremi Madsen, Max McCabe-Lokos (using the stage name Age of Danger), and Andrew "Gunn" Moszynski. They released three more albums via In the Red Records: I'm Not Your Soldier Anymore (2001), Ode to Joy (2003), and Porcella Or: A Bird in the Hand is Worthless (2006). Their single "Gore Veil" from Porcella was named the fifth best song of 2005 by CBC Radio 3, and the album itself was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize in 2006. The band announced their amicable breakup in August 2006 and played their final show at the Silver Dollar Room on August 26, 2006.
