Dreadful Shadows was a German rock band formed in 1993 in Berlin by Sven Friedrich, Reiko Jeschke, Franc Hofer, Jens Riediger, and Ron Thiele. Their debut album, Estrangement, was released in April 1994, after which they embarked on European tours alongside acts like Love Like Blood and Nosferatu. In June 1995, they released the EP Homeless, featuring a cover of New Order's "True Faith". The band evolved musically, incorporating metal and electro elements into their gothic rock sound. Their second album, Buried Again, was released in 1996 after lineup changes due to internal conflicts. In February 1998, they released Beyond the Maze under Oblivion Records, followed by The Cycle in 1999. The band's final tour took place in 2000 before disbanding. Although the band announced a reunion at the end of 2011, a planned tour was cancelled, and the band released three new songs at smaller performances.
