The Kagas was a Spanish punk-rock band formed in 2002, originating from the Basque Country. The group consisted of Johnny Thorpen (Evaristo, formerly of La Polla Records), Cebo Jones (Jon Zubiaga, of Kañería 13), Marc Lapatta (Yul, of RIP), and Marik Only (Txerra, of RIP). The band's concept revolved around the fictional narrative that they were a re-formed group from New Zealand, composed of descendants of Basque emigrants. They performed only three concerts during their brief existence. They promoted an album titled Nuevos héroes del rock, which was presented as featuring 19 Australian bands covering songs attributed to The Kagas. The album was released in 2002 under the label El Lokal/Potencial Hardcore. The band disbanded in 2003.
