Annie Berthe Challan, born on November 5, 1940, in Toulouse, France, was a French harpist and composer. She began playing piano at age two and started learning the harp at nine under Lily Laskine, earning the Paris Conservatory prize by fifteen. At sixteen, she became the principal harpist with the Concerts Colonne, and at eighteen, joined the Paris Opera as its youngest member. Challan formed the first duo of harpists with Suzanne Cotelle, recording for Pathé Marconi. She taught at the Versailles Regional Conservatory and the Marly-le-Roi Conservatory from 1971, serving as director of the latter from 1976 to 2012. Notable albums include Sept Sonates pour Harpe by François-Joseph Naderman (2005). She received the Chevalier de l'ordre national du Mérite (Knight of the National Order of Merit) in 2002 and the Medal of Honor of the City of Marly-le-Roi in 2016.
