Dezerter are a Polish hardcore punk band from Warsaw formed in May 1981. The ensemble was founded as SS-20 by guitarist Robert Matera, drummer Krzysztof Grabowski, and bassist Dariusz Stepnowski, later adding vocalist Dariusz Hajn. They adopted the name Dezerter in 1982 following pressure from Communist authorities. They achieved professional recognition with the four-track extended play Ku przyszłości (1983), which sold 50,000 copies. Their performance at the Jarocin Festival in 1984, attended by 20,000 people, was recorded and partially released on the studio recording Underground Out of Poland (1987), produced by Joey Shithead. Following the departure of Hajn in 1986, the group continued as a trio. Their recording career includes the studio recordings Kolaboracja (1987), Blasfemia (1992), and Nielegalny zabójca czasu (2004). The ensemble resumed activity with bassist Jacek Chrzanowski in 2000. Their discography includes the studio recording Wolny wybieg (2026), which reached Number 1 on the national charts.
