Jacek Kaczmarski was a Polish singer-songwriter celebrated for his virtuosic guitar style and politically resonant lyrics. He debuted at the Student Song Festival in 1977, winning first prize for "Obława." Kaczmarski became the musical voice of the Solidarity movement, notably through "Mury" (1978), which became an anthem for anti-communist resistance. Following the 1981 declaration of martial law, he lived in exile, recording landmark albums such as Mury (1981), Raj (1989), and Muzeum (1991) alongside Przemysław Gintrowski and Zbigniew Łapiński. After returning to Poland, he released the gold-certified album Live (2001). His late-career output, including Dwie skały (2000), was heavily influenced by his subsequent relocation to Australia.
