Mason Proffit was an American country rock band from Indianapolis, Indiana. Formed in 1969 by brothers Terry Talbot and John Michael Talbot after disbanding their previous group Sounds Unlimited, Mason Proffit released five albums between 1969 and 1973. Their debut album Wanted featured the regional hit "Two Hangmen", which helped propel their second album Movin' Toward Happiness to chart on the Billboard 200. The band signed with Warner Bros. Records in 1972 and continued touring extensively, opening for acts such as The Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan, John Denver, and Mac Davis. Mason Proffit disbanded in 1973 when the Talbot brothers left to perform as a duo.
