Currende is a Belgian early music ensemble founded in 1974 in Leuven by director Erik Van Nevel. The group consists of several formations, including the vocal ensemble Capella Currende, the Currende Consort, and the baroque orchestra Concerto Currende. They specialize in a repertoire ranging from the early Renaissance to the pre-classical period. The ensemble released its first album, Matheo Romero: Musique à la cour d'Espagne, in 1985. Subsequent recordings include the 1987 release Stefano Landi: La Morte d'Orfeo and the 1988 album Orlando di Lassus: Patrocinium Musices Cantionum. In 1993, Currende began the 10-CD series De Vlaamse Polyfonie, dedicated to masters such as Guillaume Dufay and Josquin des Prez. The Flemish government named the group Cultural Ambassador of Flanders for the years 1994 and 1995. Currende has collaborated with various ensembles, including Anima Aeterna, La Petite Bande, and Concerto Köln, and remains active in performing Renaissance and Baroque music.
