Aurora Borealis, a death metal band from Waldorf, Maryland, was founded in 1995 by Ron Vento. The group's initial steps included recording their first EP, Mansions of Eternity, in 1996 under the direction of Scott Burns. Their debut album, Praise the Archaic Lights Embrace, recorded in 1998, featured Derek Roddy on drums and was produced by Bob Moore at The Sound Lab. Subsequent albums included Northern Lights (2000) and Time, Unveiled (2002), both released under Nightsky Productions. Notable collaborations include Tony Laureano and Tim Yeung on various albums. Aurora Borealis has continued with releases such as Timeline: The Beginning and End of Everything in 2011 and Worldshapers in 2014, the latter through Xtreem Music and MDD Records.
