Sadistic Intent, an American death metal band from Los Angeles, was formed in 1987 by Bay Cortez on bass and Rick Cortez on guitar. After releasing rehearsal tapes and the Conflict Within demo in 1989, they signed with Wild Rags Records and released their first EP, Impending Doom, in 1990. In 1994, Sadistic Intent recorded Resurrection through Gothic Records, marking Bay Cortez's debut as vocalist. In 2007, Jeff Becerra joined the band, leading to a temporary name change to Possessed. After Becerra's departure in 2010, Sadistic Intent resumed their original name and released Reawakening Horrid Thoughts in 2014. The band has toured extensively across North America, Europe, Asia, and South America.
