Born in Groenlo on January 9, 1974, Judith van Wanroij is a Dutch lyric soprano singer. After obtaining a Master's degree in Dutch law, she began her vocal studies at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Charles van Tassel, Lucia Meeuwsen and Margreet Honig. She completed her second phase of training at the New Amsterdam Opera Academy "with distinction" in 2004. In 2003, she won first prize in the Erna Spoorenberg Vocalisten Presentation oratorio competition. Judith van Wanroij appears regularly as a soloist on European stages. She has worked with leading conductors and performed a wide range of roles, including Offenbach, Purcell, Puccini, Lehar, Ravel, Maderna, Mozart, Smetana and Monteverdi. Trained in the Jardin des voix of the Académie des Arts Florissants in 2005, with whom she toured internationally, Judith van Wanroij tackled Baroque singing, which broadened her field of expertise. In December 2018, the soprano was nominated for a Grammy Award in the "Best Opera Recording" category for her contribution to the album Lully: Alceste, performed with Les Talens Lyriques conducted by Christophe Rousset.
