Christof Sänger was born on July 28, 1962, in Wiesbaden, Germany. He is a jazz musician, pianist, composer, and lecturer. He studied at the University of Mainz from 1984 to 1989, playing in various jazz combos and chamber music ensembles. Sänger gained recognition as a finalist in the Concours International de Piano Jazz Martial Solal in 1989. His career began with collaborations starting in 1990 with musicians such as Dusko Goykovich, Sunny Murray, and Hermeto Pascoal. He released his debut album Chorinho in 1992 with his regular trio featuring Christian von Kaphengst on bass and Heinrich Köbberling on drums. In 1996, Sänger formed an international trio with George Mraz and Al Foster, performing extensively, including at the Montreal International Jazz Festival. His notable works include albums such as Imagination (1996) and Moliendo Café (1998). He is a professor of jazz piano at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main.
